Abstracts will be published in seminar proceedings (Mitteilungen der FBVA), which will be provided prior to the conference.

Authors of papers and posters are asked to deliver a hard-copy and an electronic version of their contribution to the Chair Person of their respective session. A special issue of the Austrian Journal of Forestry (Centralblatt für das gesamte Forstwesen) will be guest-edited by the organizers. Style guide-lines for papers are available at ( http://www.boku.ac.at/cbl ). Manuscripts should be typed in 12pt TimesRoman an A4 paper with 1.5-spacing and top, bottom, left, right margins set to 2.5 cm. The manuscript length should not exceed 8 pages.

In the Conference Proceedings Papers and posters are treated equally. All contributions will undergo an international review process.

The language of oral presentations will be English. The symposium will include stimulating introductory lectures by invited speakers, voluntary papers, and posters. Ample time will be allocated to group discussions.
Voluntary papers will have a time slot of 20 minutes. Speakers are asked to limit their presentation to 15 minutes in order to allow for 5 minutes discussion.

The meeting room is equipped with an LCD projector, two slide projectors, an overhead projector, and a flip chart. A laptop (PC Windows 2000) with a diskette drive, a CD drive, and a ZIP drive (100 MB) will be available. The computer has Windows 2000 as operating system and runs the programs of the MS Office package (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Adobe Acrobat. Please be aware that the computer is not connected to the WWW. If further application software is required, please let us know. Presenters are encouraged to use the electronic facilities provided by the organizer. Technically, it is possible to hook up your own computer, but we advise you to use ours in order to ensure a smooth procedure.
We would appreciate if we receive your electronic presentation early by email until Sept 12 or at latest upon registration. We can set up individual sessions well in advance.
The mobile  poster  panels are 180 cm high and 130 cm wide. The panels are lined with a fleece. Material to affix the posters will be provided.

At the beginning of the poster sessions, 2 minutes speaker time are allocated in the plenary hall for every poster . The authors can present themselves to the audience and can briefly familiarize them with the contents of their research. We envision that authors bring 1 or 2 transparencies that give the topic and the key result of their paper. The rationale is that the audience is already prepared for the poster session and can steer towards the posters that match their field of interest.
