Expertise

The reaction of tree growth under the impact of air pollution or other environmental influences at the local or regional level is assessed by the means of dendrochronological measurements or on the basis of periodically assessed plots. Expert opinions to appraise the extent and amount increment loss due to air pollution is carried out by integrating air pollution measurements. For conservation of evidence in the frame of ecological procedures assessment of forest condition and growth are carried out. More extensive expertises were done for the mineralogical plant at Hochfilzen/Tyrol, the power station at Werndorf/Styria, the steel smelter at Donawitz/Styria and the hydroelectric power plant in Koralpe. Many of these studies were to support claims for damage compensation or expert advice in the case of litigation. (T/5/1).
