Air Pollution Damage

  • The extent of increment losses due to the impact of air pollution at the local or regional level is assessed on the basis of dendrochronological studies and findings from air pollution research. These studies are to support claims for damage or expert advice in the case of litigation. (T/5/1).
  • A case study in the area of Arnoldstein aims at studying the evolution of plantations with Norway spruce and other tree species under the influence of regionally differing air pollution situations. Due to the strong reduction of emissions is is now possible to study the ability of forest ecosystems to respond to and to recover after stress reduction.
