Forest Mensuration

Studies on the conversion of cubic metres into the then new system were among the first issues dealt with by the Director of the Federal Forest Research Centre. After a crucial period marked by the development of new tools and efforts for the deviation of form factor functions emphasis has been shifted to the management, storage and interpretation of survey data.  

• Development of methodologies fo the measurement of tree diameter, height and volume (callipers, height measurement, form factor functions, bark reduction functions) 
• Measurement and evaluation of stem cores and discs, development of a tool for tree ring analysis with digital positioning
• Development of methods for measurement on permanent experimental plots and evaluation of the surveys (F/5/4)
