Opening hours/Contact

   Using the library

The available publications are in the first place meant to serve the staff of the Centre and to provide them with material for their research work and scientific projects. For members of the BWF those publications which are not on stock will be orded from national or international libraries and made available in the form of a document or article copy.

However, the library and the reading room are open for everybody who is not a staff member of the BWF. In order to provide smooth operation of the library, visitors from outside are requested to announce themselves. International loan is not possible!

   Available publications/catalogues/scientific journal exchange

The library offers books, journals, publication series, proceedings, thematic maps of Austria and a collection of special editions. It includes now 16.392 books and 30.610 volumes of journals, and approximately 9.319 special editions. Thanks to the exchange of scientific publications with about 300 forest research centres and other institutions active in this area the major part of the forest expert literature is available in the BWF library.
Since August 2003 the library management system BIS-C 2000 is used to manage the holdings.

Documents entered before 1981 are listed in the systematic and alphabetically arranged card catalogue. Documents entered after 1981 as well as any publication of the scientific staff since the establishment of the Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape in the year 1874 can be retrieved using the OPAC of the library management programme BIS-C 2000.
